Opening Prayer

Start with a prayer inviting understanding.

Sample Prayer:
Holy God, thank You for reminding us that our worth doesn’t depend on performance or popularity, but on Your love and power. As we reflect today, open our hearts to the freedom of being witnesses, not saviors. Help us understand what it means to trust You with the results of our efforts. Amen.

Prep Questions

  1. Have you ever felt pressure to meet someone else’s expectations to be seen as “enough”?

  2. What comes to mind when you hear the word “evangelism”?

  3. Who do you think is responsible for helping someone grow in faith?

In To Be Hero X, heroes gain their powers based on how much people believe in them. The more popular they are, the stronger they become. But once public faith fades, so do their powers. The pressure to keep up appearances leads to emotional breakdowns and even tragedy.

Paul addresses something similar in 1 Corinthians 3:6–7. He reminds the church that neither he nor Apollos caused the growth in believers—God did. Their job was to plant and water, but only God made things grow. That’s freeing news: we don’t have to save the world. We just share what we’ve experienced and let God handle the rest.

Instead of ranking ourselves by spiritual “success,” we are called to be faithful witnesses. God doesn’t require us to be superheroes—just honest, loving followers who trust God to work in others' lives.
