So, you’ve subscribed to Jesus Loves Nerds, but you’re unsure where to start.
Jesus Loves Nerds is a weekly Bible Study Curriculum service that provides an outline for your leaders or volunteers. These outlines provide everything you should need to host a fantastic conversation around some of the most exciting video games, TV shows, and anime trending today.
Each week, paid subscribers can expect an outline based on the latest nerdy sermon produced by Checkpoint Church that they can then use for their study group.
In this outline, we will provide:
An Opening Prayer
Prep Questions/Ice-Breakers
A Link to the Sermon/Devotional
A Shortened Transcript
Guided Questions
An Engaging Activity
After Questions
A Spiritual Practice
A Closing Prayer
It’s up to you and your team how much of the provided content you will choose to utilize, but we’d rather provide enough to cover the entire time than not enough and leave you scrambling to fill the hour.
How To Get Started
Maybe you’re not currently a ministry leader or don’t host a small group. That’s okay - we’re so glad you’re here!
If you want to use our curriculum to host some great conversations, then we recommend finding a group of at least five people and no more than ten people to meet with for around an hour.
Then, find a place to meet—a coffee shop, your apartment, or a local church. Start meeting together and let the conversations bloom using our provided outline.
Are you a Church Leader, Young Adult Pastor, or Youth Pastor?
If you already have a group that you’re hosting professionally or personally, then you can consider throwing in our weekly outlines to provide engaging conversations that your members enjoy having.
Our content will vary wildly between trending video games, anime, TV shows, and movies, so it’s possible that not every single outline will be a hit with your crew. In that case, consider using our archived content and pulling from something a bit older.
Not a Nerd, Geek, or Gamer… but your group is?
You’re exactly why we made Jesus Loves Nerds. We believe that the Church should be reaching nerds, geeks, and gamers and hasn’t been living up to the call.
Rather than wistfully hoping to reach everyone ourselves, we created this curriculum to serve the nerds, geeks, and gamers near you. Odds are, they already attend your church or youth group, and this will draw them out of their shells into a deeper connection with the community.
Still, we understand that you may not understand the references or cues from these outlines. We will strive to provide definitions and helpful summaries when necessary so that everyone can appreciate each and every outline in some way.
Other Questions? We’re an open book.
Ask your question in the comments section down below, and we will try to answer it as quickly as possible. Odds are, you aren’t the first one to wonder, but you might be the first one brave enough to ask—let us know!
