Shortened Transcript

In Sparks of Tomorrow, Kihachi Sakamoto once dreamed of an electric future with his older brother, Seiroku. After Seiroku dies in war and the notebook holding their plans is lost, Kihachi dismisses his inventions as tricks. Then Inako Momokawa sees beauty and meaning in one of his machines. Her encouragement helps him recognize that his gift is still alive.

In 2 Timothy 1:5–7, Paul remembers the faith of Timothy’s grandmother Lois and mother Eunice, then tells Timothy to rekindle God’s gift within him. Faith reaches us through others, but it also calls for our response. The sermon asks whether we are only preserving reminders of the past or putting our gifts to use now. God equips us with power, love, and self-discipline to take that next step.
