Opening Prayer

Start with a prayer inviting understanding.

Sample Prayer:
God, gather us. Strengthen the weak, seek the lost, and bind up the injured among us. Give us courage to face hard stories and hope to receive Your healing. Amen.

Prep Questions

  1. What’s one story (anime, movie, game) that surprised you with its emotional depth?

  2. When you hear “generational trauma,” what comes to mind?

  3. Share a time when a friend’s presence (not a “fix”) helped you.

Shortened Transcript

  • Takopi’s Original Sin follows Takopi, a cheerful alien with “happy gadgets,” who tries to help Shizuka, a deeply hurting child.

  • As time loops and attempts to fix things stack up, we learn each child—Shizuka, Marina, Azuma—carries wounds from adults and systems that failed them.

  • The story argues the “original sin” here isn’t a single bad choice, but systemic/generational harm passed down.

  • Ezekiel 34 condemns leaders (“shepherds”) who feed themselves and neglect the vulnerable.

  • Jesus fulfills Isaiah’s promise in Luke 4—proclaiming good news, freedom, and healing for the oppressed.

  • The cycle breaks not by gadgets or revenge but through honest community, forgiveness, and choosing one another—echoing the Church’s call to be a healing family in Christ.
